Chairman's Welcome Message

27th February 2011,

Dear Member,

Warm Greetings to you. I am delighted to inform you that I have been nominated as the Chairman of The Committee for Members in Industry of ICAI for the year 2011-12.

My Heartiest Congratulations to the newly elected President CA. G. Ramaswamy and Vice President CA. Jaydeep Narendra Shah on the occassion of the new Council year 2011-12.

It is indeed a great honour for me to assume office as Chairman of the Committee for Members in Industry, currently there are more than 90,000 members working in Industry (55 % of the total membership). In the recent past we have seen a sudden spurt in the members joining industry and this trend is bound to continue due to attractive job opportunities and pay packages being offered to newly qualified chartered accountants. Considering the fact that members in Industry find it difficult to attend Seminars and Conferences due to their work pressures I feel we need to look at offering CPE at their door step. We plan to make use technology extensively by offering videos-on-demand, new e-learning courses, web-casting services on all current topics relating to IFRS, Direct Tax Code, GST etc.

Educative videos will be hosted on a new portal which will enable members to watch them on their desktops, laptops and mobile phones. All important live events like the Budget Analysis, International Conferences will be offered on the Web and Mobile platform using cutting-edge technology.

We are planning to re-brand the CMII portal and the Job portal and make it more attractive, popular and user friendlly, a blogging feature will be introduced in the portal to enable members working in different industry verticals to exchange information and views of professional interest.

The 33rd edition of the Campus Interviews will commence from 21st March 2011 at around 17 centres across the country, the registrations for this edition has been extremely good and more than 5200 members have already registered for the campus interviews. The participation from corporates is increasing by the day and most of the first day slots are sold out in most of the locations.
